Salary-
GDS are paid emoluments in the form of Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA), which carry an annual increase of 3 percent, subject to fulfillment of conditions. They are also entitled to Dearness Allowance on TRCA as declared by the Government of India from time to time.
- Branch Postmaster (BPM): Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 29,380 per month
- Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM): Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 24,470 per month
- Dak Sevak: Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 24,470 per month
✅ Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification:
- Secondary School Examination (SSE) pass certificate of 10th standard with passing marks in Mathematics and English conducted by any recognized Board of School Education by the Government of India, State Governments, or Union Territories in India.
- The applicant should have studied the local language at least up to 10th Standard from a recognized board. Post-wise local language details are given in Annexure-III.
- Special provisions apply for engagement in Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, and Sikkim regarding local language requirements.
- Essential Qualifications:
- Knowledge of computers
- Knowledge of cycling
- Adequate means of livelihood
- Age Limit:
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 40 years
💳 Selection Process
- Applicants will be shortlisted for engagement on the basis of a system-generated merit list.
- Merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in Secondary School Examination of 10th standard, aggregated to percentage to the accuracy of 4 decimals.
- For applicants with grades/points only, subject-wise marks will be arrived at by applying a multiplication factor of 9.5.
- Where Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is provided, marks will be arrived at by multiplying the CGPA by 9.5.
- In case of tie among applicants, priority will be decided based on: DOB (older in age), followed by category order: ST trans-woman, ST female, SC trans-woman, SC female, OBC trans-woman, OBC female, EWS trans-woman, EWS female, UR trans-woman, UR female, and so on.
- Shortlisted candidates will be informed through SMS and email on registered mobile number and email address.
- Physical verification of documents will be conducted by the Divisional/Unit Head of the Division/Unit where the post is notified.
- Upon successful verification, a system-generated ‘Offer of provisional engagement’ will be issued immediately.
- Candidates must complete pre-engagement formalities within 30 days from the date of offer of provisional engagement, including prescribed basic training of 3 days and arrangement of accommodation (for BPM posts).
- Final order of engagement will be issued after receipt of verification reports from issuing authorities and antecedent reports from Police Authorities.

- General/OBC/EWS Candidates: Rs. 100 (Rupees One Hundred only)
- Fee Exemption for: All female applicants, SC/ST applicants, PwBD applicants, and Transwomen applicants
📝 How to Apply
- Applications must be submitted in online mode only at https://indiapost.gov.in/gdsonlineengagement
- Applications received through any other mode will not be entertained.
- The application process consists of two parts: (A) One-Time Registration (OTR) and (B) Filling of Online Application
- Candidates must have their own active email ID and mobile number for registration.
- Once registered, the same mobile number and email ID will not be allowed for further registrations of any other applicant.
- Before One-Time Registration, keep ready: Mobile Number (to be verified through OTP), Email ID (to be verified through OTP), and information about Board and Year of Passing Matriculation (10th) Examination.
- For One-Time Registration, click on “Candidate Login/Register” button, then click on “New Candidate Registration”.
- After registration, a registration number will be generated and sent to registered mobile number and email ID.
- For submitting the application, log in using Registration Number and password.
- Fill all details in the online application form including Personal Details, Board/Educational Details, Division selection and Post preference.
- Upload recent photograph (JPG/JPEG format, 30 KB to 100 KB, 320×400 pixels recommended) and signature (JPG/JPEG format, 20 KB to 100 KB, 300×120 pixels recommended).
- Preview the application before final submission.
- Make fee payment if applicable before final submission.
- Candidates can apply for one or more vacant posts in only one selected Division.
- On selecting the Division, give preferences for eligible posts based on community, age, PwD status, and local languages studied.
- If shortlisted for more than one post, only the first post in order of preference will be offered and candidature for remaining posts will be forfeited.
- Candidates are advised to submit the online application well before the closing date and time.
- The cut-off time for submission is 17:00 hours on 16/02/2026.
